Virginia and Truckee Locomotive #25 was stored in the early 1970s on this piece of land on South Carson Street, just south of Fairview Street. Later the Nevada State Railroad Museum opened right across the street from this site, and the locomotive was moved there, where it was restored to working order.

Source Caption: Virginia and Truckee engine No. 25 and assorted rolling stock, sitting on a piece of track at the south end of Carson City, Nevada in July 1972. Apparently this site, visible from Highway 50, was selected to promote restoration of the historic locomotive. It has since been fully restored and is now fully operational at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson. Scanned from a Kodachrome slide.
