Description

Virginia and Truckee Railroad Caboose #24 is seen here parked in front of the old stone enginehouse in Carson City. One of the enginehouse's doors can be seen to the left. In this picture the caboose had not yet been painted and lettered for the Virginia and Truckee, so this is most likely when the engine first arrived in Carson after being purchased form the Nevada Copper Belt Railroad in the Mason Valley.

Source Caption: A photo of what will become caboose 24 on the V&T. Note the chalk marking VT probably by the NCB. This car looks like it was sitting for awhile on the NCB with most of the windows broken out probably due to pesky kids. UNR Collection
