An elevated view of the southeast part of the downtown area of Carson City, taken from the cupola of the Nevada State Children's Home on Fifth Street. This view looks to the northwest. The Nevada State Capitol dominates the left side of the picture with its shining white dome. Interrupting the horizon to the right of that is the dark hulk of the Old Post Office. About in the center is the Nevada State Printing Office, and at the right center is the Carson City Armory. Between the photographer and the Armory sits Chinatown, clustered around on Third Street. Below the Capitol, the tracks of the V&T Railroad can be seen, running along Stewart Street. Other than the large stone buildings, just about everything in this photo has been demolished in the last century.
