Description

This photo of the Morgan Mill in Empire was taken in the early 1900s. The Morgan Mill was one of the many mills that processed Comstock ore, and one of the closest ones to Carson City. It was situated near the town of Empire at the bend of the Carson River. The V&T Railroad passed right by the mill to deliver ore from Virginia City; some of the ore cars can be seen on an elevated siding that goes right inside the mill.

This photo is incorrectly identified as being the Mexican Mill in Empire. In fact, this photo shows the Morgan Mill which lies further downstream along the Carson River from the Mexican Mill.
