Description

Virginia & Truckee Engine #1 "Lyon", pictured here in use as a stationary boiler at a mill in Reno. The Lyon was the first locomotive delivered on the V&T Railroad, but its small size and low power meant that it didn't have much use after newer and stronger engines arrived. In 1889 it was sent to work at the Reno Milling and Reduction Works in Reno, not moving but providing steam to the mill's machinery. It was only here a short time.
