Description

This is a Carleton Watkins view of the Graves Mansion at 190 South B Street in Virginia City. This house was built in the 1860s, being finished in 1868. Robert N. Graves was the superintendent of the Empire Mine. In later years it became known as "The Castle", and was open to public tours. The unidentified building next door is no longer standing. This is one piece of a stereo pair.
