Carson City: The Early Years
This is the St. Charles Hotel, at the corner of Carson and Second streets. Actually, here you can see both the St. Charles on the right, and the Muller Hotel on the left. The two were built as independent establishments, and merged into one in 1894.
The stage is ready and waiting in the street in front of the hotel, to carry freight and passengers south to the Carson Valley and beyond. A large crowd has turned out to pose for the photographer, including several ladies who are staying on the balcony so their dresses don't get muddy in the street below.
