Carson City: The Early Years
The Virginia and Truckee railroad yard in Carson City is seen here, with a focus on one of the stub switches. This picture was taken from the tracks at the east end of the depot platform. On the extreme left is part of the motor car house where the McKeen Motor Car #22 was kept. Next to that, in the distance, is the V&T's paint shop. straight ahead is the water tank where locomotives would fill up with water. Various other buildings and railroad equipment are scattered around the yards.
