V&T Tunnel #5

Tunnel #5 along the Virginia and Truckee Railroad, where the track enters Virginia City. The tunnel was cut through a hard rock ridge here. Later the roof of the tunnel was removed and now a highway bridge crosses the tracks here.

This view looks south towards Gold Hill. The track to the right are the main line to Virginia City. The tracks to the left are a spur line that went to the Combination Shaft.
