Description

The Rinckel Mansion at 102 North Curry Street in Carson City. The house was built in 1876 by Mathias Rinckel, a German immigrant who owned the Eagle Market at the corner of Carson and Proctor streets. His success in business allowed him to build this extravagant home. Rinckel died in 1879, but his wife and children continued to live in the house until the 1960s. Later it was the home of restaurants, including The Carlson House and Cafe Del Rio, and became the Donald W. Reynolds Press Center in the 2000s. In 2021 a new owner bought the mansion and had plans to turn it into a bed and breakfast, but those plans fell through.
