An illustrated postcard of the Lake Tahoe Photo and Curio Shop at Kings Beach Lake Tahoe, with the World Famous Wishing Well outside. This building still exists in downtown Kings Beach at 8397 N Lake Blvd, with the wishing well still outside, but it is no longer a shop. It is now the office of Resort Builders, Inc.
The back of the postcard tells the story of the wishing well.
WORLD'S FAMOUS WISHING WELL
Kings Beach LAKE TAHOE California
Is different from any other wishing well as it answers at once--no waiting. If the coin you drop lands in any of the four magic cups, your wish is good; if it misses cups and remains visible on bottom, your wish is half good; if it disappears completely, your wish is void. That simple, that quick. Complete instructions are engraved on eleven granite rocks on top. The theory is based on cycles of eleven.
The well itself is a thing of indescribable beauty. It is the result of years of effort and money by the owner-builder, Fritz Lentz. It required ten years of travel and study, plus thousands of dollars on his part to acquire and assemble the rocks and stones. We believe every jeweled and colored stone native to this country is represented. It then took four years of constant, painstaking work to construct and complete. When the flood lights are on, the color reflections are dazzling. When visiting beautiful Lake Tahoe be sure to see the "WORLD'S FAMOUS WISHING WELL"
