Description

A car crashes into the Nishikida Laundry building at 1403 Hwy 395 in downtown Gardnerville on March 27, 2019. This was built as the East Fork School in 1876, and it was located south of Gardnerville on the Matley Ranch. In 1916 it was moved here to downtown Gardnerville. In 1918 it became a laundry operated by George Oka. In 1940 it was bought by the Nishikida family, who continued operating it as a laundry until 1989. It has been empty ever since. The car crash further weakened the structure.
