The Virginia City National Guard Hall collapsed on February 3, 1940. This was on the northeast corner of Washington and C Streets. This press photo shows the aftermath of the collapse, with portions of the south and east walls missing. The building was completely demolished after this.

Virginia City's Falling Down - Mining Town Collapses
VIRGINIA CITY, NEV - Shifting of the Earth in the miles of shafts, tunnels and drifts honeycombing the ground below Virginia City's ancient structures are slowly causing many of the buildings to collapse. Three have fallen in the past three weeks, and here's the old National Guard Hall, one of the latest to go. Over a billion dollars in gold and silver were produced in this town in the height of its mining days.
