Description

The Fuetsch Guest House at 435 Riverside Drive in downtown Reno. This house, which sat right on the Truckee River just west of Wingfield Park, was a boarding house in the 1930s and was primarily used by women who were seeking divorce. Nevada law at the time stated that it was required to live in the state for six weeks before getting a divorce. So people from out of state would spend their six weeks living in a boarding house like this. The home was built in 1905 and torn down in the 1970s. This site is now Bicentennial Park.
