Description

This view looks northeast from a second floor window at the Nevada Day Parade, sometime in the 1960s. This is the corner of Carson and Telegraph streets; on the left is the sign for the Kit Carson Club and on the right is the old Post Office, known today as the Paul Laxalt Building. On the sidewalk in front of the post office is the V&T caboose #24.

In the center of the photo is the Carson Nugget at the corner of Carson and Spear. The prospector and neon spire are both still standing. Marching in the street below the Nugget are the Bulldogs from Smith Valley Elementary School.
