Description

Engine #27 pulls the last Virginia and Truckee scheduled train ever. The train was heading south through Washoe Canyon, on the last morning run from Reno to Carson City. Photographers swarmed the steep hills of the canyon, and the engine crew put on a fine display of black smoke for the cameras.

Wouldn't it be heading towards Carson City if it was going South through the canyon?

Of course you're right. The tractor gives it away. That was the trip from Reno to Carson.
