For decades the locomotive "Glenbrook" was on display next to the Nevada State Museum in Carson City. This locomotive had worked on the logging railroads at Lake Tahoe, hauling cut logs from the sawmills at Glenbrook up to Spooner Summit, where they could be placed in a flume and sent rocketing down to Carson City.
In the 1980s the locomotive was moved to the Nevada State Railroad Museum, where it was dismantled and put into storage, awaiting its turn for restoration. Parts of the engine can still be seen if you go there.
As a boy, Joe Polson stopped at the museum while the family was moving from Hawthorne to the Bay Area. He took this picture while visiting the Glenbrook.
