Description

The Central Pacific Railroad train tracks where they leave the Truckee Meadows and enter the Truckee River Canyon. This is about the present-day location of Vista Blvd in Sparks. This photo looks east into the canyon. In 1868 the Transcontinental Railroad was not finished yet, so at this time trains were likely taking construction materials from California to the end of the track further east, where the crews were working quickly to make it to Utah and connect to the Union Pacific.
