A view of Virginia City, from the east. The big building on the left is the Virginia City News. The large building in the center is the Frederick House Hotel. Both of those buildings have been demolished. In the foreground are the depots and barn of the Virginia and Truckee Railroad. A train pulled by locomotive #27 is sitting at the freight depot on the right. This was just one year before train service to Virginia City was discontinued.
