Fort Churchill in the 1930s or 40s. Fort Churchill was built as an Army fort in 1860 and abandoned in 1869. The fort decayed over the decades until the mid 20th century, when the site became a State Park and efforts were made to stop the decay and preserve the ruins. Due to the preservation efforts, the fort still looks the same today as it did in these photos.
