Description

An ore cart sits on the tracks on top of an ore dump in lower Virginia City. The caption identifies this as the lower dump of the Gould & Curry Mine. The main shaft of the Gould & Curry was up on D Street. So much ore was being brought out of the mines, and most of it was pretty low in precious metals, so it was just dumped in the lower parts of town.
