Description

Virginia & Truckee Engine #28 emerges from Tunnel #4 in Virginia City. #28 was the number temporarily given to this engine, which only ran in Virginia City for one year. Bob Grey rented the engine when he rebuilt the railroad, and continued the numbering from the old V&T that had left off at #27. The following year, Bob bought his own locomotive so that he would no longer have to rent. That engine was numbered #29, and is still on the Comstock today. This engine, after changing owners, ended up at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City, now numbered #8.
