Description

The Sands Motor Inn at 345 N. Arlington Ave. in Reno. Built in 1965, it started as a motel. A hotel tower was added in the 1970s. More hotel towers and casinos were added over the decades, and this original motel was demolished in the 1990s. The property became the Sand Regency, then in 2023 was renamed to the J Resort.

Source Caption: Just in from eBay. Wonderful rendering (from a postcard) of the Sands Motor Inn in Reno, NV. This "Oasis of Leisure" opened in 1965. You might recognize the style of the rendering. The motel was the work of Armet & Davis. Its first address was 313 N. Arlington. The address later changed to 345 N. Arlington. If you Google the latter address, it appears that the motel still exists, as well as its original roadside sign.
