Seen here is the Nevada Day parade, headed south on Carson Street near Robinson. The Nevada State Museum is just out of frame to the left. The big white building you can see on the left is the First Interstate Bank, later to become the north hall of the museum. Behind it you can see Chuck's Golden Spike casino, advertising steak and eggs and dollar blackjack. In less than a year the Golden Spike would be closed. In the center of the photo the tall sign of the City Center Motel stands out, with a Best Western sign half-hidden behind it.

On the other side of Carson Street you can see two signs for the Downtowner Motor Inn, then the dark roof of the old V&T Railroad Depot. At the right edge of the photo, the Texaco and Mobil gas stations face each other across Caroline Street. The price of gas is $1.06 for "regular", and $1.15 for unleaded.
