The Golden Spike casino closed circa 1985-86, and remained abandoned for well over a decade afterwards. This photo shows it in a state of neglect, with For Sale signs plastered all over it. The very reasonable asking price of $795,000 is equivalent to what many west side houses go for nowadays.
This building formerly was a movie theater in the 1960s. In the late 1990s it was finally bought and remodeled into the Washington Street Station, a retail and office center.
