Edelweiss Ski Area in the 1950’s. This ski area was on Hwy 50 west of Lake Tahoe, past Echo Summit in the Camp Sacramento area. It closed in 1963.

Source Caption: About 1958, looking southward across Highway 50 towards the stone gated entrance to Camp Sacramento ---- Edelweiss Ski Area chairlift can be seen in the background. The ski area operated from the 1940's through the early 1960's and likely closed due to competition from the nearby Sierra Ski Ranch and Heavenly Valley Ski Area in South Lake Tahoe. The chairlift, rope tows, and lodges were dismantled within a year or two after the ski area closed. Scanned from a Kodachrome slide presumably taken by someone associated with Baker TV Service in Placerville. Acquired for Rick Donaldson Collection.
