To celebrate, weโ€™re presenting an exciting series of posts highlighting the history of the Minden-Tahoe airport!

In late 1935, the Carson Valley community took its first steps to bring aviation to Nevadaโ€™s high desert. Two sites were proposed for what would become the Minden-Tahoe Airport. The first was a small, informal airfield northeast of Gardnerville, while the second was a 320-acre tract at Dresslerville Flat. Aviation enthusiasts James Dake and Myron Dressler were strong advocates for the Dresslerville site, calling it โ€œfirst classโ€ and ideal for development. Though initial plans stalled, these efforts laid the foundation for a future airfield that would become central to the regionโ€™s growth and community. Their passion for aviation in Carson Valley set the stage for what would soon become Minden-Tahoe Airportโ€”a historical testament to local vision and determination.
