We are told that steamers required rather long piers for loading and unloading of passengers and freight. The smaller launches were for ferrying people around. Here we see the Happy Day in front of Tallac Casino in the early 1900s ladies dressed for the cruise. Captain Joe is seen on the roof of the boat. (Lake Tahoe Historical Society)
