A view of Virginia City, looking north from a spot along C Street. St. Mary's Church is in the distance to the right. The building in the center is the Biroth Building, which collapsed on February 28, 1940. That site is now the Storey County Sheriff's Office.

Source Caption: Virginia City, Nevada, some 20 miles southeast of Reno, is the ghost of a once prosperous mining town of 40,000 in the roaring days of the Comstock Lode. Historic structures which have survived fire and storm for 70 years are Storey County Courthouse, Piper's Opera House, and beautiful St. Mary's-in-the-Mountains Church.
