Source Caption: One of the real strengths of the Donner Summit Historical Society is our wonderful community. Case in point. We received a message the other day from one of our followers, Gary Simon, saying that he would like to share some rare color photos of the City of San Francisco train that was trapped in the snow near Emigrant Gap in 1952. Of course we were delighted to accept his contribution. We have posted about this dramatic event before, but all the photos we have were in black and white. Seeing the snow bound train in color only adds to the drama. We are happy to share them with you here. Thanks again Gary.
