Source Caption: NOMAD II began life in 1911 in the San Francisco boatyard of John Twigg and sons. Built in 1911 by the San Francisco boatyard of John Twigg and son, SCOUT, as she was originally known, became NOMAD II when purchased by Captain Jack Hale. My father Vic Bell owned the Nomad at Meeks Bay ; I believe in the 1930’s or 1940s and gave tour rides. He was also a drummer that played in the band on Friday nights at Meeks Bay; that’s where he met my mother. My grandfather Husky Hunt owned Hunts Gift shop in Tahoe city and owned cabin # 1 at Emerald Bay. During the winter my grandfather was a football coach with Pop Warner at Stanford University. In the 1950s Nomad II was owned and skipped by Robert Williams a Yuba Collage professor. The boat was lost in when it when aground during a winter storm.
