Description

For 80 years of operation, the Virginia and Truckee Railroad stopped here at the Franktown Hotel in the Washoe Valley. By the 1940s, the hotel had been converted to the Flying M E Guest Ranch, where out-of-towners could spend six weeks to establish legal residency for the purposes of getting a divorce in Nevada. This view shows the ranch at a distance, from up on the nearby hill. Some of the railroad infrastructure can barely be made out.
