Source Caption: Two covered freight transports pull past a mill site in Silver City Nevada c. 1978. I was almost fooled into thinking this photo was from the 1860's until closer examination revealed a few details. The covering on the front wagon reads "Carson to Hangtown ~ Fast Freight". Hangtown was an early name for Placerville California. Right below it reads "Pony Express Trail Association" which was established in 1978. Great photo though. The group provides annual trail rides along the old Pony Express Trail as well.
