Description

An illustrated postcard for the Westerner Motel at 4395 W. 4th Street in Reno. This was out of town on Hwy 40, nearly to where McCarran crosses 4th Street today. It was demolished in May 2017 and apartments were built on the site.

Source Caption: This week’s postcard features the Westerner motel. With the fantastic artwork of Lew Hymers’, the motel was located on West Fourth Street. It was part of the Wildflower Village at 4395-4275 W. Fourth, which is now the location of a “luxury apartment” complex. Wildflower Village converted three 1950s vintage motels which included the Westerner (they used the original sign), the Silver Spur, and the St. Francis Motel which became the Dutch Wife. It was a nice artist’s retreat.
