Description

After the original Reno Arch was removed from downtown in 1964 and replaced, it was moved to Idlewild Park. Here it is spanning Idlewild Drive at the entrance to the park. By the end of the decade the street here was widened, and the arch was moved to Paradise Park in Sparks.

If you guessed Idlewild Park you are correct. When the 1963 version was installed (more about that arch in another posting) they moved the old arch to Idlewild Park where the 1927 Transcontinental Highway Exposition was held. That was an appropriate site since the original arch was erected on Virginia Street to celebrate and advertise the Exposition. Due to a street widening project at Idlewild Park in 1969, the arch is moved to Paradise Park.
