An interior view of the Central Pacific Railroad showsheds on top of Donner Summit. Much of the track was kept safe from snowstorms inside these wooden tunnels, so that trains were still able to run even in blizzard conditions.

Source Caption: Gary Simon - Couldn't find a stereo of that one in particular, but here is one that is very similar. BTW - Crested Peak was the old name for Donner Peak.
