Downtown Truckee in the 1950s. A Texaco station is squeezed between Donner Pass Road and the railroad tracks. A Southern Pacific train being pulled by a cab-forward locomotive is heading toward Donner Summit.

Source Caption: Texaco Service Station in Truckee, California. Postcard purchased by my dad. Note the huge cab forward Southern Pacific locomotive, built for driving though snow tunnels. Dad was driving from Fargo North Dakota to California. The family would follow him by train.
