Source Caption: So it was Christmas Day in 1955 when a big part of the mountain came tumbling down across Highway 89 at Emerald Bay. It was difficult repair job that wasn't fixed until November 3, 1956. This photo was reportedly taken in June of 1956. (California State Parks) (Peter Goin)
