Description

Looking at the "Rainbow Bridge" that used to cross over the railroad tracks in downtown Reno, connecting Virginia Street north of the tracks to the Fitzgerald's Casino to the south. This photo was taken during construction of the train trench, which lowered the tracks below grade level. After this, the bridge was no longer needed, and it was torn down in 2007.

In the background are the Sands Regency and Eldorado.

Source Caption: Around 2005, the Fitzgerald's Hotel & Casino rainbow skyway spans West Commercial Row and the new trench being constructed for the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. The railroad has been re-routed on a temporary "shoofly" track running along West Commercial Row during construction of the 33-foot-deep trench.
