Source Caption: In 1961, the First National Bank of Nevada (which owned the old Nixon Building at the corner of North Virginia Street and East First Street) purchased the neighboring Washoe Title Division building (at 27 East First Street), a week after buying Reno City Hall at the corner of East First Street and North Center Street. (The bank planned a new 16-story office tower on the site of the Nixon Building, and the old City Hall would eventually be replaced by a parking garage.) In the background at left is the F.W. Woolworth Company (in the old Mapes Building) at the corner of North Virginia Street and West First Street.
