Source Caption: A postcard from 1985 from Karl's Silver Club in downtown Sparks. In May 1983, construction began on an $8 million renovation of the existing casino that would include convention space and new restaurants. The expanded casino project ultimately cost $14 million, and was opened in September 1984, with the property then known as Karl's Hotel and Casino. The casino later operated as the Silver Club and Bourbon Square Casino before closing in 2015. In 2018 the building was demolished and is now the location of the Nugget Event Center
