Source Caption: The Reno was built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in May 1872 and first ran on July 11, 1872. It was one of the railroad’s early 4-4-0 “American” type steam locomotives and was specifically designed for passenger service. It was one of the first true passenger locomotives for the railroad and regularly hauled passenger trains between Reno, Carson City, and Virginia City for many years.
