Source Caption: Pictured is Nevada State Route 3 at Washoe Summit along the Reno-Carson Highway as it was featured on the 1923-1924 Department of Highways Biennial Report. Mount Rose can be seen looming overhead in the distance to the west. This corridor would become part of US Route 395 in 1934 when it was extended to San Diego, California. This segment of highway later became US Route 395 Alternate when the mainline highway was relocated onto the extension of Interstate 580 towards Carson City.
