Description

On February 5, 1957, a gas leak in downtown Reno ignited at the corner of First and Sierra Streets. Several stores, including Spina's shoe store and Paterson's Men's Store, were destroyed in the blast and two people died. The fires burned for hours, destroying several other buildings. This view shows the burning buildings across the Truckee River, next to the Sierra Street bridge.
