Description

The Tahoe Tavern Hotel in Tahoe City, before its demolition. The Tavern was built in 1902, and by the 1960s was aging and in poor repair. New owners decided against a renovation and instead tore it down to be replaced with condos. Lillian Vernon Farr took this photo to document its last days. This is the central bell tower, which was said to be the home of many bats.
