Description

The Lake Valley Railroad was a logging railroad that ran from Bijou at the lake's edge south to the forests around Sierra House. It was part of the Carson & Tahoe, Lumber & Fluming Company, who also operated the railroad from Glenbrook to Spooner Summit. The logs were towed to the Bijou pier where they were dumped into the lake and floated for Glenbrook. The locomotive on the pier was "Santa Cruz", a Porter built in 1875.
