The Big Tree

The "Big Tree" in Tahoe City. This tree stood right in the middle of the road where traffic had to drive around it and was a beloved landmark. In 1994 the tree had to be taken down because of beetle infestation. This photo shows the process of cutting it down.

Source Caption: The Tahoe City Tree has been mentioned before. In my unending but futile attempt to organize my photos I ran across this one from 1994. We just happened to be in town when they were taking it down.
