Description

Mountain Quarries Engine #202 in Virginia City in 1961. Engine #202 came from Mountain Quarries Railroad in California and bounced around between owners during the 20th century. In the 1960s a group of railfans tried to revive the Virginia and Truckee Railroad by bringing Engine #202 to Virginia City, but it didn't work out. Later they ran #202 at the Carson City Airport with V&T Flatcar #57, which didn't last long either. Later, in 1977, Engine #202 was the second locomotive on Bob Gray's rebuilt V&T in Virginia City (#28 was the first in 1976). But it didn't have enough power for their needs so it was replaced later that summer by #29.
