Date of photo Spring 1872. This Mill, built by Union Mill and Mining Co., was constructed from fallof 1871 until opening March 1872. Note Mill, while in use ("blur"on inclined trestle is two ore loads being cable hauled up into ore house) is still under construction. There are empty window openings on second story and a stack of sash frames just outside door nearest ore trestle. Also note 1/2 painted front

Also note use of horse/mule "power"to switch ore cars onto trestle and to haul empty ore cars up to ore slide transfer with with V&T RR, @ 1.45 miles distant. Full cars returned by gravity.
