Three locomotives pose at Promontory Point, Utah in 1969, for the centennial celebration of the Transcontinental Railroad. The old steam engine at the right, dressed up as UP #119, is actually the Virginia & Truckee #18, "The Dayton". The engine was on display in Utah from 1969 to 1978, when it came back to Carson City and was restored to its V&T appearance.

Source Caption: Scanned postcard from the scrapbook/photo album that I bought recently at a Sacramento, California, antique shop. From the back: "Union Pacific #8444 4-8-4 Northern class steam locomotive, #6900 EMD DDA-40X 6600 H.P. diesel and the #119 4-4-0 stand in Ogden, Utah, for their Centennial Celebration portrait in May 1969." Of course, the 8444 is now known as 844.
